A preapproval is a preliminary decision based on the information provided during the application interview. This application has not yet been approved and a written commitment has not been issued. The preapproval shows strength in your offer. It proves to the sellers that you can afford the property. If two offers are submitted on a property exactly the same, the seller would be more likely to accept the offer with the preapproval versus without. Ultimately it helps you understand your buying power and budget.
