Home Compromises

As I was sitting outside today, I was reminded of one reason we bought our home.  The cul-de-sac.  Low traffic and a wonderful place for kids to play.

It got me thinking about sellers with their home for sale in Peters Township.  I was also thinking about buyers and showing homes in the Pittsburgh area.

Both parties need to know their needs.

Buyers should make a list of the must haves versus items they would like.  They also have to be willing to compromise.  I would give up this in order to have that.

Sellers need to remember what made them buy the home in the first place.  What made you choose your home over another one?  Chances are those are still pretty good marketing tools for your house.

With our house, the driveway is sloping and the master bathroom is a little small. But I have a great finished walk out basement on 9/10 acre of land on a cul-de-sac within 5 minutes of all Peters Township schools and shopping.  The driveway is still great for parking a ton of cars and I am just fortunate to have a master bathroom.  Wow the positives sure do outweigh the compromises.

Every house has a positive aspects and every buyer has different needs.  What might be a positive to one is a negative to another.  The land around my house might be too much for one buyer and too little for another.  We have to remember in real estate – It is all about the compromise.  You might not be able to have it all, but what you do get you can really enjoy.  Today I enjoyed my cul-de-sac.
